Cars 2 Takes The Top B.O. Spot

Despite terrible reviews from critics, Pixar’s Cars 2 has claimed the top spot in this weekend’s box office race.

The latest installment brought in $66.1 million dollars, and did very well in the oveseas market, collecting an estimated $42.9 million in box office receipts.

The B.O. results of Cars 2 ensures two things— the film is well on its way to breaking the coveted 1 billion dollar market. And also ensures that Disney will rake in a considerable amount of money from the ridiculously popular toy franchise.

Bay’s Letter to Projectionists

‘Life of Pi’ Pushed Back; ‘Hobbit’ Gets Titles

The Ang Lee helmed adaption of the novel “Life of Pi” will be pushed back one week in order to avoid any potential competition with Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings” prequel, “The Hobbit”.

Jackson has also recently announced the titles for each part of his newest franchise. Part 1, with the tentative release date of December 2012 will be titled “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and part 2, “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” which is slated for a December 2013 release.
